Four men and two women will be inducted into the 2007 class of the Rio Grande Valley Sports Hall of Fame at the 20th Annual Induction Ceremony scheduled Saturday, June 9, 2007, at the Holiday Inn Holidome in McAllen.

The inductees are:

• Arnie Alvarez, Brownsville, posthumously
• Sylvia Longoria-Rodriguez, Brownsville
• Eliseo Pompa, Mission
• Merced Solis, a.k.a. Tito Santana, Mission
• Rene Torres, Brownsville

• Magda Villarreal Johnson, Edinburg

The Rio Grande Valley Sports Hall of Fame was established in 1985 to recognize and preserve sports history in the Rio Grande Valley. The RGVSHOF strives to recognize deserving people who have brought recognition to the Rio Grande Valley through their contributions to sports.
